Speakers to discuss investigation of recent 787 Boeing Dreamliner battery failure incidents in Boston and Takamatsu
Needham, MA, October 23, 2014 – The Knowledge Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of a new presentation on recent airplane battery failure incidents to its Fifth Annual Battery Safety conference program. The presentation, entitled "Lithium-Ion Batteries in Aviation: Boston and Takamatsu 787 Boeing Dreamliner Battery Failure Investigations," will take place on Thursday, November 13, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.
Conference attendees will hear lead National Transportation Safety Board investigators Robert Swain, a National Resource Specialist in Aviation Systems Engineering, and Mike Bauer, an Aircraft Systems Investigator, present their study into the recent battery failure incidents in Boston and Takamatsu on the 787 Boeing Dreamliner. Additionally, Alvin Wu, a Research Engineer of Corporate Research at Underwriters Laboratories Taiwan Co., Ltd., will explain the details of cell-level test results that were completed for these investigations. The lessons learned and the future use and safety of lithium-ion batteries will be discussed.
