Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) offer significant advantages over many existing materials due to their exceptional mechanical, electronic and chemical properties. While unprecedented interest in a variety of possible commercial applications has accelerated research and development, a key obstacle to commercialization remains the need for cost-effective, large-scale production methods. These are precisely the issues this forum is designed to address - recent technological advances in new production and processing techniques. Among other featured presenters, Applied Sciences, Carbon Solutions and General Motors will highlight their efforts for the scale-up of production. Cutting edge applications of nanotubes in fuel cell technology, lithium ion batteries, hydrogen storage, field-emitter displays, reinforced composites and molecular electronic interconnects will also be presented. Panel Discussion: What is holding up large-scale production and transition to applications of carbon nanotubes? PROGRAM
